Big & Little Dippers
Couldn't catch the meteor shower, but thought I'd share a pic of the dippers.
Can you spot the little one?
Clue: The bottom 2 stars of the big dipper line up and point to the north star, which is the first star in the handle of the little dipper.
hope you find it!

commented over 1 year agoI think I see it! Is it along the bottom quarter of the photo just to left of center? I not really good at constellation stuff. Very hard to photograph stars (at least for me), but you did it!

commented over 1 year agoKristine, you're close, but you seem to have spotted the bottom of the Big Dipper, now if you follow the bottom 2 stars on about a 30 degree trajectory, you will see a bright star to the right of center, about a third of the way up the picture. That is the North Star. Now draw an imaginary line up and slightly curve left, the next 2 stars are the handle, which lead to the 4 stars in a square pattern completing the puzzle. It looks to me like a ladle pouring into a pot. This size does not do the picture justice. It's clearer as a desktop wallpaper, so I don't blame you if you have trouble.
