I love pre-dawn light, and it's more often than not the calmest part of the day. Thanks Mike. BTW, here's a link to a map of the park.

They ran an article about this place a few weeks ago in the Tribune - sounds like a fabulous place. Can't wait to see it for myself!!

They're having a grand opening of a new visitor center on August 14. They're working on making it into a National Wildlife Refuge called Hack-Ma-Tack.

It's always hard to remember just what these scenes looked life at the time. So I don't know if this one is dead on, or maybe underexposed and therefore saturated. Someone once told me though that the best image is not always the correctly exposed one

Thanks again. I remember the dialogue from some Western movie, where a Native American says, "Only the mountains last forever". Even that's not really true, but a lot of these trees are starting to collapse into the creek, enough to ruin the "clean" look in many of the images I posted, like this one, and it reminds me of that comment.

thanks, but Mother Nature gets credit for that. Might be slightly underexposed and saturated because of that. Hard to know exactly what they looked like that moment.

A striking early dawn photo taken at a pristine location! Absolutely beautiful. One of my top ten in the competition.
