I can imagine in a hundred years or so, some one will purchase this great photograph at a Southebeys auction for millions. For your sake, I wish it could be sooner. But great artists like Monet typically die long before the true value of their genius and contributions become fully appreciated. Like many of your photos, this is a work of art that legs of history. Sunrise & Sunset
November is the perfect time to capture a dramatic Chicago sunrises and sunset. We asked Capture My Chicago photographers to brave the cold mornings and brisk evenings to get the perfect light. The results are stunning! Ray Mathis captured the Editors' Choice for this challenge with his Glacier Park Sunrise photo (above). The entire top 10 is full of fantastic shots. Ray Mathis is a master of landscape photography. One look at his popular photos and it's easy to see his tremendous talent for capturing the perfect light as it bounces off nature. Ray shoots 4x5-inch color transparency photography almost exclusively, which is quite unique. He's also got a passion for nature that shines through his photographs.
Ray is an active Capture My Chicago user, having cast more than 4,000 votes, and is also published in the Capture My Chicago 2010 book. In his Capture My Chicago bio, Ray says, "I sincerely hope that my images encourage you to seek out similar experiences in the natural world for yourself, just as others images have encouraged me to seek out such experiences for myself." We agree, Ray, and we're grateful for your inspiring contributions to Capture My Chicago thus far.

A delightful juxtaposition of autumn and winter. This is the perfect shot to illuminate fall colors turning into winter's cold.

Holidays: Chicago Style
We asked Capture My Chicago users what the holidays look like in Chicago, and everyone responded with some great photo of the season. From kids playing in the snow to Christmas trees lit up, the Holidays: Chicago Style challenge brought out the best in how we do holidays. Our editors loved the sleigh photo by Richard Susanto (Editors' Choice, above), and the voters seemed to take a liking to lighted tree photos. All in all, a great challenge!

Holiday Shopping
What would the holidays in Chicago be without two dozen Santas marching down the Magnificent Mile? Not a holiday we'd like to be a part of, that's for sure. Our editors loved the humorous take on the Holiday Shopping challenge in Tim Lowe's photo (above), and made it the Editors' Choice for this challenge. Other challenge highlights include Macy's holiday decorations, yummy treats and a beautiful retail display in Oak Brook, Illinois.
