Thank you for visiting these images. Your comments are truly welcome. Others’ observations—even if I bristle—do make my work stronger. Please don’t hesitate.

Several of you asked about my approach to capturing images. With each image, I try to offer my take on.

-Everyday life. These CMC contributions document people, events and opportunities. There is no value (e.g., good, bad); they just are simply things that are there, as I see them. Monet, through his Haystacks, was and will likely remain the master. I am just trying to continue the tradition. Portraiture, city/landscapes and still life capture my experience of the subject at one point in time.

-Things normally missed, overlooked, or misconstrue. For example, details and newly juxtaposed situations force a reconciliation and partnership of right and left brain strengths.

-Abstractions. Non-representational imagery really is that. By overlooking any sort of recognizable element to experience the emotional “Wow!”, is great.

Other questions:

Why Series? We all have themes we enjoy exploring. For whatever reasons, the Series (e.g., Reflections, Homage, The Painterly Print) offer you and me a context.

Why References to Artists and Movements? Goethe and Santayana said it best, “He who does not learn from the past, is bound to relive it in the future.” Other than one basic art history, I am totally self taught. This is my attempt to understand my roots as a photographer.

Any photo-manipulation? Other than some cropping and very limited use of MS Picture Manager, the images are presented remain “as is”. Ideally, the image (left brain), along with title and caption (i.e., right brain) remains a self contained packaged. In fact the right brain stuff sometimes takes longer than capturing the image

- Why such long and protracted titles. My goal is not to try your patience (though at times it has occurred). There are 3 reasons:
1- I was and always remain an educator.
2- My attempt to reintegrate my visual and verbal skills after a near fatal car accident.
3- Two Master Printmakers and professors I respect greatly employ distended titles as part of the oevres. At times it serious, other times to infuse some humor.

Hopefully these answers will not detract from your enjoying these images.

Away from my tendency to ramble-- aka terminal verbosity--other than to note that all images were taken with a Nikon D70. With few exceptions, the only lens I use is their 70-300 zoom.
