cloudy day bean
With family in town for the Thanksgiving weekend we got a chance to visit the Bean and wander Millennium Park.
I know it isn't a particularly interesting or unique photo of our most beautiful public work (IMHO), but it's just such a wonderful subject that I figured it was worth putting up. -
Look! Up in the sky!
Just doing a little fun posing in front of some of the street art along Milwaukee Ave.

With family in town from Paris and LA - getting some holiday spirit Chicago style.

old silo (color)
The fast moving and well textured clouds today made for a great opportunity to finally try my ND400 9-stop filter for a day time long exposure.

On location self portrait
Lately I've been trying to do more "environmental" portraits, and have been thinking about how I might make more self portraits on location around Chicago while using off-camera flash as a portable lighting setup. This is my first attempt. The photo is meh, but the gear/setup was pretty portable so the idea of shooting on location seems pretty feasible.
Shot at the Logan Square dog park. -
the garden
There's a small wooded area behind DeVry between Belmont & Addison that is setup for dirt bikes. Lots of dirt banks & berms, some covered in tarps and carpets. Actually makes for a kind of surreal setting. This is part of a launch area.

K likes bacon
This past weekend we joined our friends for their daughter's 3rd birthday brunch party at Fork in Lincoln Sq.
The seating arrangement just happened to work out well with K sitting at the head of the table with a drawn curtain behind her partially separating the party space that worked nicely as a backdrop. -
Time for cake!
After breakfast they cleared the tables to make room for cake and I was able to take advantage with a low perspective shot from the table top.

About Me
Photography has been only a hobby of mine since 2012, and I've found that I struggle to make decent looking images unless I'm shooting people or pets.
In 2016 I'm going to make a more concerted effort to capture more Chicago scenery & things, hopefully that more accurately depict the spirit of the CmC site!
