    Facing South

We had some pretty crazy clouds happening all around Chi-town this afternoon. Must be the rapture.

Good thing I'm being left behind to get some cool shots!

  • Creepy by Andrew Sommerfeld

    Creepy

This building is at the corner of Morgan and Grand, and it's always caught my eye. I'm not sure if the building is occupied or not, but it strikes me as something out of a movie. Something haunted out of a movie.

  • Snowpocalypse by Andrew Sommerfeld

    Snowpocalypse

So, it's <a href="http://www.nowpublic.com/environment/chicago-weather-hour-hour-midway-closed-metra-clogged-video-2753276.html" rel="nofollow">kinda snowing</a> here. Got this as we all left work early, from the 20th floor.

  • Walking on Randolph by Andrew Sommerfeld

    Walking on Randolph

We're still in the midst of <a href="http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chibrknews-blizzard-blog-nope-forecast-hasnt-gotten-better-20110201,0,7578054.story" rel="nofollow">Snowpocalypse 2011</a>. A lot of the city is basically shut down (roads are blocked, trains slower), and it's become a work from home day. Of course, I couldn't resist the chance to stand in the middle of Randolph Street and take some pics.

This gentleman was doing the smart thing and walking in the street - less snow, and no vehicles to worry about.

  • Chauncey McCormick Gallery / Public Notice 3 by Andrew Sommerfeld

Chauncey McCormick Gallery / Public Notice 3

My <a href="http://criticalmass.com" rel="nofollow">company</a> today took the whole lot of us over to the Chicago Art Institute for the afternoon for some inspiration. I took a bunch of shots, but this one stood out to me: a combo of the entrance to the Chauncey McCormick Gallery and a piece entitled <a href="http://www.artic.edu/aic/exhibitions/exhibition/kallat" rel="nofollow">Public Notice 3</a>, which encompasses the grand stairway. Very, very cool afternoon.

  • Wacker and Randolph by Andrew Sommerfeld

    Wacker and Randolph

Walked to work today! Mostly, because... new camera! I'm shooting with the Nikon D7000 now, and boy howdy do I have some learning to do. Anyhow, this is a shot of Wacker Drive and Randolph Street, all torn up. I think they're working on the supports for Lower Wacker, and the road is going to be closed for the next 2 years.

This should have no effect at all on traffic.

  • Rock and Roll McDonalds / Portillo's by Andrew Sommerfeld

Rock and Roll McDonalds / Portillo's

Two Chicago fast food landmarks. <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps/place?um=1&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=portillo's&amp;fb=1&amp;gl=us&amp;hq=portillo's&amp;hnear=Chicago,+IL&amp;cid=5806266154725630959" rel="nofollow">Portillo's</a> has pretty much any kind of drinkin food you want, but... <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp3Cs3tDuR8" rel="nofollow">ROCK AND ROLL McDONALDS! • Just a Duck by Andrew Sommerfeld

    Just a Duck

Plain and simple, just a duck. I like the look of the feathers in this one.

  • What ya gonna do? by Andrew Sommerfeld

    What ya gonna do?

Caught this candid while out for birthday drinks with a good friend at Richard's Bar. I really dig how the tones came out here.

  • The Holy Wall by Andrew Sommerfeld

    The Holy Wall

Yep, another bar picture. This time, from my neighborhood hang, the <a href="http://thebeerbistro.com/" rel="nofollow">Beer Bistro</a>. I love this place.
