Seagull Launch

I snuck up on this guy and at the last second I reached my arm and camera way out over the chain barrier at Navy Pier and snapped a few shots as he lifted-off from his perch. Lots of luck involved here! He's only about a foot or two away at the time the shutter snapped

Big bolt, big sky

Last night's lightning storm was amazing! I'm just glad I survived it. I took this photo fro my balcony facing south towards Pilsen. The bolt reminds me of a satellite view of a giant river with all of the channels branching out of the main waterway. Similar to an artery as well. Its amazing how nature repeats patterns isn't it? Blue lightning over 90/94

This was taken during one of our first storms of the year in April. The bolt was close that there wasn't so much as a rumble but a loud snap.
